Columbia Police respond to traffic accident on East St. Charles Road

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police are currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on the evening of August 14. At approximately 9:09 p.m., authorities responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of East St. Charles Road and Remm Drive.
According to reports, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on East St. Charles Road when it struck 47-year-old Mark Hunter Jr, who was walking in the area. Hunter was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The victim's next of kin has been notified.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477 or online at http://www.p3tips.com/899. A cash reward of up to $2,500 may be given for information leading to an arrest in this case.
The case number for this ongoing investigation is 2026-00222657.
