Columbia Police arrest suspect in burglary of business on Seventh Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a burglary at a business in the 1200 block of Seventh Street on August 9th at approximately 11:45 a.m. Witnesses reported that the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Allen Patrick of Columbia, had stolen a fire extinguisher from a nearby business and used it to break into the building through the front door. Patrick was apprehended by police outside of the building and has been charged with second-degree burglary and stealing.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but the front door of the building sustained damage. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477 or online at http://www.p3tips.com/899. A cash reward of up to $2,500 may be given for information leading to an arrest.

The case number for this incident is 2026-007568 and it falls under Missouri statutes 569.170 for burglary in the second degree and 570.030 for stealing.
