Columbia Police arrest suspect for shots fired on East Walnut Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police officers were on patrol in the early hours of August 9th when they heard gunshots in the vicinity of the 800 block of East Broadway. Upon further investigation, they spotted a suspect, identified as 20-year-old Tavan Eric Williams-Patrick, holding a firearm and attempting to discard it on the sidewalk.

As Williams-Patrick attempted to flee on foot, he was apprehended by the officers and charged with fourth-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or property damage.

The incident is currently under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477 or online at http://www.p3tips.com/899. A cash reward of up to $2,500 may be given for information leading to an arrest.

According to Missouri Statutes 565.056, 571.015, 571.030, and 571.031, Williams-Patrick could face serious consequences for his alleged actions. The case number for this incident is listed as 2026-007560.
