(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - As the nation prepares to honor the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., the City of Columbia has announced that its offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

In light of the holiday, the City Council meeting scheduled for Monday will now take place on Tuesday, Jan. 20. This change is due to the closure of city offices on Monday.

Several city services will also be impacted by the holiday. Residential curbside trash collection will not take place on Monday and will instead be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. To stay updated on collection schedules and service notifications, residents can download the COMO Recycle and Trash App or contact the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489).

The landfill will also be closed on Jan. 19, along with Go COMO, Columbia's public transit system. Parking enforcement will also be suspended for the day.

However, for those looking to stay active on their day off, the City's Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) will operate at its normal hours from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

While administrative offices for both the police and fire departments will be closed, all other emergency services will still be available.

Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will also be closed on Monday but regular business hours will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
