Colorado Springs: Ramona Avenue at South Nevada Avenue closing Monday through Wednesday
Rezul News/10730819
~ Colorado Springs, CO - Starting on Monday, Ramona Avenue at South Nevada Avenue will be closed for three days as part of the City's South Nevada Avenue Traffic Signal Improvements Project. The closure is necessary for crews to complete paving work and is expected to last through Tuesday, March 24. Additional striping work is scheduled for Wednesday morning and the roadway will reopen once all work is completed.
According to city officials, the closure will not affect traffic traveling north and south on South Nevada Avenue. Access to nearby businesses and properties will remain open during this time.
To navigate around the closure, drivers are advised to follow the signed detour route. Westbound traffic on Ramona Avenue should detour south on South Nevada Avenue, west on St. Elmo Avenue, north on Tejon Street, and return to Ramona Avenue from the west. Eastbound traffic should detour south on Tejon Street, east on St. Elmo Avenue, north on South Nevada Avenue, and return to Ramona Avenue from the east.

Pedestrian access will also be provided with clearly marked detours. However, some sidewalk segments near the work zone may temporarily close with signage directing pedestrians where to safely cross.
On-street parking within the work zone will be restricted during construction. Customers visiting area businesses are encouraged to use nearby parking areas outside of the closure zone.
The City of Colorado Springs is working in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation to upgrade two intersections along South Nevada Avenue at Ramona Avenue and St. Elmo Avenue. The project aims to replace aging traffic signal infrastructure and provide safety upgrades for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
