Colorado Springs: City to close Memorial Park vehicle gates earlier on Sundays

~ As of Sunday, September 27, the City of Colorado Springs will be implementing a new closure time for vehicle gates at Memorial Park. The gates will now close at 7 p.m. on Sundays, two hours earlier than the previous closure time of 9 p.m. This decision was made in collaboration with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the City's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department in an effort to combat illegal parking lot takeovers and street racing, which have caused damage to park property.

The City has been taking steps to improve safety at Memorial Park, such as installing new lighting, security gates, and wireless cameras. The earlier closure time on Sundays is an additional measure to discourage illegal vehicle activity and protect the park from further damage.

Effective immediately, all vehicles must exit Memorial Park before 7 p.m. on Sundays. However, pedestrian and bicycle access will still be available after this time. It is important to note that this change only applies to Sundays.
