DENVER ~ Governor Polis of Colorado has signed two bipartisan bills into law today, aimed at supporting the state's agricultural community and transitioning coal-dependent communities.
The first bill, SB26-010, was sponsored by Senators Dylan Roberts and Byron Pelton, and Representatives Julie McCluskie and Karen McCormick. It aims to save money for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities by redefining agricultural property tax definitions. Governor Polis emphasized the importance of the agriculture industry in Colorado, stating that it drives local economies, provides fresh products to residents, and serves as responsible stewards of the state's lands.

He expressed pride in the legislation being signed into law and its potential to ease financial strains for those who have been operating on their land for generations.
The second bill signed into law today is SB26-052, sponsored by Senators Dylan Roberts and Marc Catlin, and Representatives Meghan Lukens and Tisha Mauro. This bill focuses on investing in communities that are transitioning away from coal dependence. With this legislation, Governor Polis hopes to support these communities as they adapt to a changing energy landscape.
