Colorado: Governor Polis Celebrates Agreement to Return Sheridan Students and Teachers Back to Classrooms

DENVER ~ After a day of intense discussions, the Sheridan School District and the Sheridan Educators Association have finally reached an agreement to get students back in classrooms as early as Monday. This announcement was made by Governor Jared Polis this evening, following a meeting at the Capitol that was mediated by his team and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE).
The agreement comes after weeks of negotiations between the two parties, with both sides showing a strong commitment to finding a solution that would benefit the students and teachers of the district. The Sheridan Educators Association is expected to vote on ratifying the agreement on Friday, while the Sheridan School Board will vote on Tuesday.
Governor Polis expressed his excitement about the agreement, urging both sides to quickly ratify it in order to avoid any further delays. He emphasized the importance of getting students back in classrooms as soon as possible, stating that they have already missed critical classroom time and deserve a great education.
Mark Ferrandino, Director of the Office of State Planning and Budget, who led discussions between the two sides on behalf of Governor Polis, also expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. He stated that both sides have come together to reach an agreement that is in the best interest of students and teachers.
