Colorado: Governor Polis Celebrates 11th Anniversary of Landmark Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court Ruling
Rezul News/10738943
DENVER ~ On this day eleven years ago, the United States Supreme Court made a historic ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, granting marriage equality as a constitutional right for all Americans. This decision was a major step towards achieving equality for all individuals in the country.
Governor Polis of Colorado expressed his support for this ruling, stating that it affirmed what many already knew: love is love and every American should have the freedom to marry who they love. He also emphasized that Colorado is a state where people can be themselves, marry who they choose, and live without fear of discrimination.
The governor has been dedicated to creating a Colorado For All, where everyone can thrive regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. He has taken several actions to protect LGBTQ Coloradans and their fundamental personal freedoms. These include passing laws such as Civil Actions for Conversion Therapy Survivors (HB26-1322), Protecting the Freedom to Marry (SB25-014), Gender Identity Certificate of Death (HB25-1109), Name Change to Conform with Gender Identity (HB24-1071), Amenities For All Genders In Public Buildings (HB23-1057), Gender Identity Expression Anti-discrimination (HB21-1108), Identity Documents For Transgender Persons (HB19-1039), Prohibit Conversion Therapy for A Minor (HB19-1129).
