~ Juneau's Annual Water Quality Report Shows Positive Results, CBJ Announces
The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has released its annual water quality report, showcasing the positive results of the city's drinking water sources. As per the report, Juneau's treated drinking water from the Last Chance Basin wellfield and Salmon Creek Reservoir met all state and federal public health standards with no detectable contaminants such as PFAS or lead.
The report, which is available to the public each year, also highlights CBJ's investments in critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects. In the last fiscal year alone, over $10 million was invested in necessary upgrades to water reservoirs, sewer lift stations, and the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant. This fiscal year, an additional $15 million will be invested in improvements such as rehabilitating an aging clarifier at the Juneau-Douglas Treatment Plant and installing a biosolids crusher at the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant.
