City of Long Beach Issues Rain Advisory Due to Recent Showers
Rezul News/10727377
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Acting City Health Officer Dr. Cliff Okada has issued a rain advisory for recreational beaches and bays in the City of Long Beach. This comes after the city experienced heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. According to Dr. Okada, the rain could potentially lead to unhealthy conditions due to increased runoff from storm drain outlets and rivers that eventually reach the city's beaches.
In accordance with state law, all local public health agencies with recreational swimming areas are required to notify the public when conditions may affect the health of swimmers. As a result, Dr. Okada is urging residents to avoid recreational swimming areas for at least three days following the end of a rainstorm.
