Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the holiday season approaches, the City of Long Beach is gearing up to celebrate and support its local businesses through Small Business Saturday. This nationwide initiative, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, aims to promote and recognize the contributions of small businesses to their communities.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his enthusiasm for this event, stating that "Small businesses are the heart of Long Beach." He emphasized their role in bringing character to neighborhoods, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy. The mayor encouraged residents to shop locally and show support for the entrepreneurs and families who make up the fabric of their city.
Long Beach is home to a diverse range of unique businesses and several business improvement districts such as Belmont Shore Business Association, Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, Downtown Long Beach Alliance, Fourth Street Business Improvement Association, Visit Long Beach, Midtown Property & Business Owner's Association, Uptown Property and Community Association and Zaferia Business Association. Shopping at these local establishments offers residents a chance to find a variety of products and services from boutique clothing stores to artisanal coffee shops. By shopping locally, residents not only stimulate the local economy but also support job creation and foster a sense of community pride.

Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 to encourage consumers to shop locally during the holiday season. According to the national Small Business Administration, for every $100 spent at local businesses, $68 stays in the community. Shopping locally also has environmental benefits and encourages businesses to reinvest in their communities, leading to increased competition and innovation among small businesses.
