Rezul News/10719732
~ Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness has once again shown his commitment to education by surprising four local teachers with a total of $31,000 in funding as part of the City's Educator Innovation Grant program. This brings the total funding for the program to an impressive $385,000 since its launch in 2024.

The Educator Innovation Grant program, which aims to empower educators within HSE Schools, provides financial resources for innovative projects in the classroom. The goal is to inspire students to think outside the box and approach learning in new and exciting ways. Since its inception last year, the program has awarded 24 grants across 13 schools in the HSE Schools system.

These grants have been awarded at all grade levels and have supported a variety of projects such as creating makerspaces, implementing STEM programs, incorporating virtual reality and film into curriculum, and providing professional development opportunities for teachers.

The latest round of grant recipients includes Melanie Mullins from Harrison Parkway Elementary who received $8,590 to fund a K-4 STEM Lab Starter. This will include purchasing hardware for the lab and providing professional development opportunities for educators within the district. Shannon Foster from Lantern Road Elementary was awarded $5,445.69 to introduce students to foundational STEAM concepts through a LEGO Learning System. Nicolle Symons from Fall Creek Intermediate received $10,548 to create a makerspace where students can explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while also gaining valuable career exploration experience. And finally, Erin Gastineau from Hamilton Southeastern High School was granted $11,700 for Manikens® that will be used in their Human Body Systems course as part of a four-year Project Lead the Way Biomedical Pathway.
