Columbia is one of sixteen cities selected for the Love Your Block program's cohort for years 2024-2026 and is also the first city in Missouri to participate. This program is powered by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University and aims to bring city leaders and residents together in order to build stronger neighborhoods one block at a time.
Love Your Block grants provide funding for resident-led neighborhood revitalization projects across the United States. These projects range from transforming vacant lots into community gardens to repairing playground equipment and removing trash from public spaces.
In addition to the mini-grants, the City of Columbia's Love Your Block program is also supporting resident-led neighborhood litter pickups, park cleanups, and composting projects this year. The City is currently seeking community members who are interested in leading these projects with support from their neighbors. Love Your Block will provide tools, supplies, and assistance with project promotion.
