Campaign For Fiscal Sanity: Greg Fuher's Analysis Of The PCMCD Budget
Rezul News/10747946
Greg fuher exposes serious budget anomalies at pasco county mosquito control district and pulls back the curtain on $14.3 million in reserves, suspicious year-end spending spikes, and taxpayer paywalls
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Rezul -- Greg Fuher, candidate for the Pasco County Mosquito Control Board (Seat 2), is sounding the alarm on troubling financial and operational practices within the district following a review of recent financial reports. Pointing to massive capital hoarding, abnormal year-end spending spikes, and barriers to public transparency, the campaign is calling for immediate, sweeping reforms to protect local taxpayers.
Key financial and structural concerns highlighted by Greg Fuher include:
"Pasco County residents work hard for their money, and local government has a moral obligation to treat every tax dollar with respect," said Greg Fuher. "We shouldn't be hoarding millions in reserve while families face high costs, nor should we tolerate year-end 'use-it-or-lose-it' spending sprees and paywalls on public information. It is time to bring true fiscal sanity, modern procurement, open sunshine laws, and a lower millage rate to the Pasco County Mosquito Control District."

Key financial and structural concerns highlighted by Greg Fuher include:
- Massive Capital Hoarding: The district is currently sitting on over $14.3 million in total reserves—including more than $9.2 million earmarked for future capital outlays—an amount rivaling its entire annual operating budget.
- Suspicious Year-End Spending Spikes: Financial reporting reveals erratic spending trends, including abnormal seasonal surges such as over $1.2 million spent on Supplies & Materials alone during the final month of the fiscal year.
- Opaque Accounting: The district's reports feature recurring, unusual negative expenditure entries across multiple operational lines, pointing to a lack of straightforward, transparent municipal accounting.
- Paywalls on Public Records: The district currently charges the public for information requests, putting a financial barrier between citizens and public documents they already own.
