California: Governor Newsom signs legislation 9.17.25

~ Sacramento, California - Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a series of bills today, September 17, 2025, aimed at improving various aspects of the state's resources and services. The governor announced the signing of nine bills in total, which include AB 149 by the Committee on Budget, SB 105 by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), SB 146 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 151 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 153 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 156 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 157 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 159 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 160 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, SB 161 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, and SB 162 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review.
These bills cover a wide range of issues including public resources management, budget acts for multiple years, human services, early childhood education and childcare, transportation budget management, labor laws, public safety measures, tax exemptions for wildfire victims, background checks for certain professions, state employment regulations for bargaining units and election procedures.
