Boston: Traffic Advisory For St. Patrick's Day Parade 2026
Rezul News/10729745
~ As the annual St. Patrick's Day parade approaches, the city of Boston is gearing up for a day filled with festivities and celebrations. This year's parade, which will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, promises to be a unique experience as it follows a new route in reverse direction along the "historical" path.
The parade will kick off at 11:30 am from Andrew Square and proceed up Dorchester Street. From there, it will turn right onto Telegraph Street and make its way around Thomas Park before heading left on G Street. The parade will then continue onto East Sixth Street instead of the usual East Fifth Street, adding a new element to the traditional route. It will then turn left on K Street and right on 4th Street before making its way onto P Street and East Broadway.
Spectators are strongly encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking or taking public transit to reach the parade route. For those who need to park their vehicles away from the parade route, reduced price parking will be available at the Marine Park Garage at 12 Drydock Ave for vehicles with a South Boston resident sticker. This offer will be valid from Saturday at 6 p.m. until Sunday at 8 p.m.

In addition to the parade, the Edgerley Family South Boston Club's St. Patrick's Day 5K Road Race will also take place on Sunday at 9:00 am. The race route starts at the South Boston Boys and Girls Club (SBBGC) and proceeds along West Sixth Street to Dorchester Street before turning onto East Broadway and continuing towards Farragut Statue. The race then turns around back onto East Broadway and crosses L Street before finishing back at SBBGC.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic during these events, parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Sunday on various streets including Dorchester Avenue from Gillette Park to Old Colony Avenue, Boston Street from Dorchester Street to Ellery Street, and Preble Street from Dorchester Avenue to Old Colony Avenue. Cars parked in these restricted areas will be towed starting at 2 a.m.
Other streets with parking restrictions include Dexter Street, Damrell Street, Telegraph Street, Thomas Park, G Street, East Sixth Street, K Street, East Fourth Street, P Street, East Broadway, West Broadway, A Street, West Second Street and Binford Street. The area around West Sixth and F Streets will also be cleared two hours before the start of the race.
