Boston: Cummins Highway Construction Update: June 2025

Week 6/9 ~ The city of Boston is making progress on its sidewalk and bike lane improvement project, with work scheduled for the next four weeks. From June 9th to June 13th, construction crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to install sidewalks from Alabama St. to Kennebec St. in the north, as well as form and install a sidewalk from Greenfield St. towards Ridlon St.
During the week of June 16th to June 20th, work will continue with the same hours as crews form and install sidewalks from Ridlon St. to Rugby St. Additionally, they will be installing pedestrian ramps from Kennebec St. in the south towards Weybosset St., and excavating and backfilling a bike lane from Savannah St. towards Harvard St.

The following week, from June 23rd to June 27th, construction will continue with the same hours as crews form and install sidewalks from Kennebec St. in the north to Hebron St., as well as sidewalks and pedestrian ramps from Weybosset St. to Greenfield St. Excavation and backfilling of the bike lane will also continue from Savannah St. towards Harvard St.
From June 30th to July 4th, work hours will remain the same except for July 4th when there will be no work due to Independence Day celebrations. During this week, crews will form and install sidewalks from Hebron St. to Livermore St., install curb and pedestrian ramps around the Greenfield/Weybosset area, and install bio-retention planters between Alabama St. and Kennebec St.
This project aims to improve pedestrian safety by providing better sidewalks and bike lanes throughout Boston's streets. The city encourages residents to be patient during construction and reminds them that these improvements will benefit everyone in the long run.
