Bloomington: City Seeks Public Suggestions for Hopewell South Lane Names
Rezul News/10745249
~ The City of Bloomington has announced a call for residents to assist in naming the new lanes that will be a part of the Hopewell South development. This is the first phase of the City's redevelopment project for the former Bloomington Hospital site.
According to city officials, residents can submit their proposed lane names through an online form until Tuesday, Sept. 15. The submissions will then be reviewed and verified by city staff, who will select finalists for a public vote starting on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The voting period will remain open until Sunday, Sept. 20.

It is important to note that proposed names cannot include last names and must not duplicate any existing road names in Monroe County.
The Hopewell South development will consist of 98 new homes and will also include new streets, utilities, and other public infrastructure. This project has received unanimous approval from both the Bloomington Plan Commission and Common Council. It is the first phase of a larger redevelopment plan that includes three phases: South, East, and West.
The lane-naming process is taking place as the City prepares for the next stage of development on the site. Once submissions close on Sept. 15, the City will announce the finalists and provide information on how to vote. The results from this public vote will ultimately determine the names used for the new lanes in Hopewell South.
