Wordeee Presents Three Bird Song: A Lyrical Modern Folktale Inspired by Ghanaian Storytelling
Rezul News/10723195
NEW YORK - Rezul -- Wordeee is honored to announce the publication of Three Bird Song, a tender and evocative modern folktale by Ghanaian-born author Efua Winful. Rooted in the rhythms and wisdom of traditional Ghanaian storytelling, the book offers a luminous meditation on friendship, belonging, and the quiet courage it takes to remain open-hearted in times of hardship.
Set in a bustling marketplace where survival depends as much on resilience as on companionship, Three Bird Song follows three unlikely avian companions. Chi, a modest brown bird, and Kah, a self-important crow adorned in a white vest, are familiar figures at the market—just as familiar as the irritation their discordant calls provoke. Habitually chased away, they accept this rejection as fate, until the arrival of Puht, a small bird from a distant town whose overly long beak and earnest longing for connection mark him as an outsider among outsiders.

As famine spreads and other birds abandon the marketplace in search of better fortunes, Chi, Kah, and Puht find themselves drawn together by necessity and chance.
Yet companionship, like song, is not without discord. Chi and Kah grow restless with one another, their differences sharpening into resentment. Believing solitude may offer peace, they part ways—leaving Puht, who regards them as both friends and mentors, heartbroken and uncertain. The story unfolds with quiet emotional resonance, asking whether bonds once broken can be repaired, and whether true friendship can endure pride, fatigue, and fear.
Written with warmth, wit, and graceful simplicity, Three Bird Song invites readers into a world where animal lives mirror human truths. Efua Winful animates her characters with gentle humor and psychological insight, crafting a narrative that feels at once intimate and universal. The result is a story that lingers—one that speaks softly, yet carries lasting meaning.
"Three Bird Song exemplifies the power of literary storytelling for readers of all ages," said Marva Allen, Wordeee CEO. "Efua Winful's voice is both rooted and expansive, honoring Ghanaian oral tradition while offering a story that transcends borders."
