Willow & Oak Alliance Raises Veteran Food Insecurity at Congressional Panel

MESA, Ariz. - Rezul -- MESA, Ariz. Willow & Oak Alliance, Inc. (WOA), a Mesa-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving veterans, seniors, and families across Maricopa County, participated in Congressman Greg Stanton's (AZ-04) 2026 Veterans Panel on August 4, 2026, in downtown Mesa. The event convened veteran service organizations, state officials, and community leaders to discuss housing, women veterans' issues, and state-level resource navigation for Arizona's veteran community.

WOA submitted a written question to the Congressman's office regarding federal nutrition program support, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) for veterans facing food insecurity, and how local organizations like WOA can better align with federal resources. Staff indicated that all attendees who submitted questions would receive a follow-up response.

WOA addresses this issue directly through its Community Stability & Food Access Program (CSFAP), currently being established in partnership with VFW Post 1760 in Mesa. According to the Military Family Advisory Network's 2025 Military Family 360° Survey, roughly one in four veteran and retiree families experience food insecurity, with many eligible households not seeking assistance due to stigma or lack of awareness.

Founded in December 2025, Willow & Oak Alliance holds full federal 501(c)(3) status and the Candid GuideStar Gold Transparency Seal for 2026.
