We're Not Too Hungry for Love. We May Be Feeding the Hunger the Wrong Things

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Rezul -- What if the deep hunger for love and connection isn't a sign that something is wrong, but evidence of something people were designed for? That question is at the heart of HUNGRY FOR More: The Longing, The Counterfeits, and What We're Really Looking For.

Initially released Sept. 2, 2026, HUNGRY FOR More explores a question many people quietly carry: "How come I have this unlimited hunger that nothing seems to satisfy?" Bernock's message is that the hunger itself isn't the problem. People were made for love and connection, but many have been hurt while trying to satisfy that legitimate longing in ways that cannot truly meet it.

"I wrote HUNGRY FOR More because I want people to understand that their craving for love and connection isn't wrong," said Bernock. "It's there by design. They were made for love, and their longing for it can be satisfied."

The message comes at a time when digital connection has become a dominant part of daily life, yet emotional and relational disconnection remains a growing concern. Research led by social connection scientist Dr. Julianne Holt-Lunstad found that lacking social connection is associated with increased risk of premature mortality, with an effect comparable in magnitude to several established risk factors. The research encompasses social connection broadly, including social networks, social support, and social isolation, rather than loneliness alone.

Bernock believes that when disconnection and isolation become normalized, people may not recognize what they're missing. Her book challenges readers to look beneath the things they use to fill their hunger and consider what they're really looking for.

"They're not the problem. What they're feeding on is," Bernock said.

The official launch of HUNGRY FOR More will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Filipo Marc Winery in Clinton Township, Michigan, during The HUNGRY FOR More Experience. The event will offer guests an opportunity for connection and conversation, along with wine, a sweet surprise, and "something more."
