Veteran Discovers He Was Overpaying for Cell Service and Meals — So He Built a Solution

ORLANDO, Fla. - Rezul -- Share with Seniors and Veterans!

What started with a forgotten restaurant discount turned into a much bigger realization for Vietnam Veteran and author Bruce Goldwell: Veterans and Seniors may be leaving money on the table every day simply because they do not know what discounts are available—or forget to ask before paying.

Goldwell then looked at his own cell phone service and discovered another area where Veterans and Seniors could potentially save.

"While creating Senior Vet Discounts, I discovered that my own cell phone provider offered a discount for Veterans," Goldwell said. "I signed into my account, found the page to apply, and my bill dropped by $26 a month. I realized I had been overpaying by almost $300 a year simply because I didn't know the discount was available."

"That was the moment the idea became much bigger than restaurant discounts. I started wondering: How many Veterans and Seniors are overpaying every month simply because no one told them to ask?"

That experience inspired Senior Vet Discounts, a new savings platform built around one simple idea:

Senior Vet Discounts helps users find participating businesses and reviewed national discount programs covering categories such as restaurants, retail stores, Orlando tourist attractions, Florida attractions, phone services, travel, and more.

Unlike a general business directory, the platform is designed specifically around savings opportunities for Veterans and Seniors.

The service also gives local businesses a way to become official Senior Vet Discounts Participating Businesses, publish their Veteran and/or Senior offers, and make those offers easier for customers to discover.

Participating businesses can offer much more than percentage discounts. Offers may include free admission, free items, special pricing, dollar discounts, upgrades, or other benefits.

Goldwell believes one of the biggest problems is not the absence of discounts—it is awareness.

"A discount does no good if the customer never knows it exists," Goldwell said. "Sometimes all it takes is remembering to ask before you pay."

The platform is initially placing special emphasis on Florida and the Greater Orlando area while also including selected national discount programs.
