This initiative aims to support violence prevention and reduction efforts by investing in local neighborhood-based agencies and organizations that have evidence-driven strategies.
A total of $150,000 has been allocated for the 2025 program, which will fund community-led initiatives focused on prevention, intervention, and violence reduction. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, resident councils, and faith-based communities serving Bloomington. Priority consideration will be given to agencies that incorporate Heading Home of South Central Indiana's Built for Zero initiative into their violence reduction strategies. These agencies must also demonstrate a commitment to data-driven and systems-level change.
Funded partners are required to provide housing-oriented services consistent with the Heading Home Plan to align with broader housing stability and violence prevention goals. They must also actively participate in Region 10 Coordinated Entry and Regional Planning Council (South Central Housing Network) meetings.
Applications for the grants are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. Grant awards will be announced no later than Friday, Aug. 29, with funded programs beginning implementation on or after Sept. 1.
