Tephanie Delaney Challenges the Influencer Economy in New Book, Rich in Influence, Poor in Affluence
Rezul News/10746176
MINNEAPOLIS - Rezul -- We are living in an influencer-driven society where everyday people can build audiences, shape buying decisions and become recognizable almost overnight. But what happens when all that attention doesn't translate into wealth?
Entrepreneur, media visionary and branding strategist Tephanie Delaney tackles that question in her new book, Rich in Influence, Poor in Affluence: From Insta-Famous to Insta-Wealthy, releasing in print, eBook and audiobook October 1, 2026.
The book examines the growing gap between visibility and wealth in a culture driven by followers, views, likes and viral moments. Delaney challenges readers to look beyond the appearance of success and consider what they are actually building with the influence they have created.
Followers are not equity. Views are not ownership. And going viral doesn't automatically mean you're building wealth.
"I've spent more than 20 years helping people and businesses become visible," says Delaney. "But visibility was never supposed to be the finish line. We have learned how to get people's attention. The next conversation has to be about what we do with that attention once we have it."

Drawing from more than two decades in business, branding, media and entrepreneurship, Delaney brings professional and personal perspective to the conversation. Her experiences building businesses and navigating success and setbacks led her to examine the difference between making money and building lasting wealth.
The book also explores the economics of culture, including the enormous influence Black culture has had on what America watches, wears, listens to, buys and talks about.
"This isn't about pointing fingers," Delaney says. "We already know we have influence. The question is how do we become more intentional about turning that influence into ownership, equity, assets and economic power?"
Written in plain English, Rich in Influence, Poor in Affluence explores the creator economy, entrepreneurship, consumer power and ownership.
The message is simple: We have figured out how to become Insta-famous. Now it's time to figure out how to become Insta-wealthy.
