~ The City of Tacoma's Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) has announced the upcoming annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, set to take place on Monday, January 19, 2026. This highly anticipated event will feature the presentation of two prestigious awards - the Lifetime Service Award and the Emerging Leader Award - as well as a community outreach fair. The celebration will be held at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center (GTCC) starting at 1 p.m.

This year's theme, "Community in Service: A Path to Action," highlights the importance of coming together and serving our community in various ways. It recognizes that every individual has a role to play in strengthening Tacoma through acts of service. The program, hosted by Kwabi Amoah-Forson, will showcase inspiring stories and performances that demonstrate how service is not just a value, but a call to action.
