Springfield: Update: Deceased pedestrian identified

Springfield, Mo. ~ On the night of June 23, 2025, a tragic incident occurred at the intersection of Kearney Street and U.S. Highway 65 in Springfield, Missouri. At approximately 11:55 p.m., officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.

According to reports, the pedestrian has been identified as 59-year-old Scott Chance, a resident of Springfield. His family has been notified of the unfortunate incident.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Lori Alsup, a 46-year-old from Springfield. Alsup was traveling eastbound on Kearney Street in her 1997 Toyota Camry when she struck Chance near the northbound exit ramp of U.S. Highway 65. It was reported that Chance was not crossing at a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident.

Chance was immediately transported to the hospital with serious injuries but unfortunately succumbed to them later on. As of now, his next of kin has not yet been located.
