Springfield: Update: Deceased bicyclist identified

Springfield, Mo. ~ A tragic accident occurred in Springfield, Missouri on May 10th, resulting in the death of a 72-year-old bicyclist. The victim has been identified as Daniel White from Dublin, Georgia and his family has been notified of the devastating news.

According to previous information released by the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Broadmoor and Glenstone Avenue at 11:36 a.m. The collision involved a vehicle driven by 78-year-old Ann Schonert from Springfield and a man on a bicycle.

Schonert was traveling westbound on Broadmoor towards Glenstone Avenue when she turned onto northbound Glenstone Avenue and struck the bicyclist who was in the right lane. The victim suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, the man's family had not yet been located or contacted. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Springfield Police Department or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

This tragic incident marks Springfield's 10th fatal vehicle crash of 2025, resulting in a total of 11 deaths. Our thoughts go out to the victim's family during this difficult time.
