Springfield: Motorcyclist killed in vehicle crash

Springfield, Mo. ~ A tragic accident on March 28, 2025, has claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Springfield, Missouri. According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash at around 11:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of S. Fort.
The victim has been identified as Thomas Smith, 41, from Branson. Smith was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle southbound on Fort when he collided with a 2022 Chevy Equinox driven by 76-year-old Richard Weter of Springfield. Weter was traveling northbound on Fort and attempting to make a left turn when the crash occurred.

Smith was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. However, on May 3, 2025, the Springfield Police Department received notification from the Greene County Medical Examiner that Smith had passed away. His family has been notified of his tragic death.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 417-864-TIPS (8477) or online at p3tips.com.
This fatal crash marks the eighth one in Springfield this year and has resulted in nine deaths. The community is urged to stay vigilant and practice safe driving habits to prevent further tragedies on the roadways.
