Springfield: Driver dies in single-vehicle crash

Springfield, Mo. ~ On the night of September 2, 2025, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Grand Street and Laurel Avenue in Springfield, Missouri. According to reports from the Springfield Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 11:25 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kathryn Kelly, a 62-year-old resident of Richardson, Texas. Kelly was traveling westbound on Grand Street in a 2024 Kia Soul when her vehicle veered off the road and collided with a utility pole on the north side of the intersection. Sadly, Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been notified of her passing.

The Springfield Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 417-864-1810 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477) or online at p3tips.com.
This incident marks Springfield's 15th motor vehicle crash of 2025, resulting in a total of 16 deaths. The community is urged to stay vigilant and prioritize safe driving practices to prevent further tragedies on the road.
