Springfield: Division Street to close at the railroad crossing just east of Kansas Expressway Nov. 18-24

~ Springfield, MO- Division Street will experience a temporary closure to traffic at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad crossing starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18. The closure is expected to last until Monday, November 24, weather permitting. This closure is necessary for the replacement of the current railroad crossing and surrounding roadway surfaces.

The City of Springfield and BNSF Railway Company have joined forces in a cost-share partnership to accelerate this improvement project. The City's portion of the funding comes from the 1/8-cent Transportation Sales Tax.

This project is part of a larger initiative between the City and BNSF to replace approximately 20 railroad crossings throughout Springfield. The goal of this initiative is to enhance safety, improve ride quality, and reduce long-term maintenance costs. These additional crossing replacements will take place over the next few months.

The public is advised to be aware of potential closures at other crossings as this work progresses and to plan alternate routes accordingly. Both the City and BNSF are committed to completing these improvements for the benefit of the community.
