Springfield, Mo. ~ Springfield residents have the opportunity to gain an inside perspective on the Springfield Police Department's practices and policies through the 2025 Citizens Police Academy. The program, set to begin in August, aims to provide citizens with a better understanding of how the department operates and the challenges officers face while serving the community.

Interested individuals can apply now for the academy, which will cover a variety of topics including police policies, organizational structure, investigative processes, and policing tactics. The curriculum consists of 30 hours of instruction over 10 weeks, with classes held every Tuesday starting on August 12.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Springfield. They must also pass a basic background investigation. Applications must be submitted online by July 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered.
