Spokane: Public Service Announcement

Rezul News/10740799
~ As the summer season continues to bring warm weather and outdoor activities, the Spokane Police Department and Spokane City Parks and Recreation are reminding the community of the importance of maintaining safe and welcoming parks for all.

According to Officer T. Leming, Public Information Officer for the Spokane Police Department, city parks are closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with the exception of Riverfront Park which is closed from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. This is in accordance with Spokane Municipal code (SMC) 12.06A, which is actively being enforced by both the police department and city park rangers.

Remaining in a city park after closing hours without authorization is considered park trespassing under the SMC and can result in various consequences such as a warning, misdemeanor citation, or even an arrest for repeat offenders or non-compliant individuals. In order to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment of the parks, it is important to respect posted park hours and signage.

Officer Leming also urges community members to report any suspicious activity or large gatherings in parks after hours by contacting Crime Check at 509-456-2233. By working together, we can help keep our parks clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
