Spokane Police Arrest a Hospice Facility Caretaker

Rezul News/10733928
~ Spokane Police have made an arrest in connection to a series of thefts at a local hospice facility. According to Officer T. Leming, PIO, the Special Investigations Unit became aware of the thefts several weeks ago and have since been working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Leena Anderson, was a caregiver at the hospice facility where the thefts occurred. The facility was able to pinpoint her as the main suspect due to her being the only employee working during the time frame of all three thefts. As a result, Anderson was immediately placed on leave pending further investigation.

It is alleged that Anderson stole debit cards from both dying patients and visiting family members at the hospice facility. She then used these cards to purchase lottery tickets at various stores and gas stations in Spokane before redeeming them for cash. After tying her to all three thefts, Spokane police arrested Anderson today and charged her with 3 counts of Identity Theft 2nd, 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property, and 3 counts of Money Laundering.
