SAVE-A-LIFE: Naloxone education and distribution event to be hosted at Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The SAVE-A-LIFE program, a joint effort between the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS), will be hosting an educational event on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 1005 W. Worley St. The event will run from noon to 1 p.m. and aims to educate the public on how to prevent overdose deaths from painkillers such as fentanyl by using naloxone nasal spray.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of free events that provide information and facilitate discussions on the use of naloxone, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. This event does not require registration and all attendees will have access to a personal supply of naloxone.

Funded in part by contract DH240054280 between PHHS and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, this event is made possible through the ongoing partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health. As a result, participants will be able to obtain Narcan® at no cost.
