Rock 'n' Roll Wiener Dog Goes Global: "Longfellow Finds A Home" in a Japanese–English Edition
Rezul News/10738878
Linda Shayne releases her new children's book "Longfellow Finds a Home: Japanese - English Bilingual Edition."
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Rezul -- Two languages, one big-hearted little wiener dog — letting families read, learn, and laugh together in Japanese and English, side by side on every page.
He's long, he's blue, he's a wiener dog who plays guitar — and he just wanted somewhere to belong. Now he's going global. Remember Point, the Santa Monica–based publisher behind the Wiener Dog Tales, has released a new Japanese–English bilingual edition of its hit children's book, "Longfellow Finds A Home." The rock 'n' roll–singing dachshund who won over kids in English now bounds onto bookshelves in two languages at once.
Written in whimsical rhyme by author and screenwriter Linda Shayne and illustrated by Emmy Award–winning animator Art Leonardi — one of the original "Pink Panther" artists — the book was translated into Japanese by Tomoko Miyagawa. The entire story appears in both languages, side by side, so children can follow Longfellow's adventures in either one — or both. It's a fun, screen-free way for bilingual families to connect and for young readers to pick up a new language.

So who is Longfellow? He's a dachshund — wiener dog, sausage dog, hot dog — who shows up one night with nowhere to call home. After a giggle-worthy adventure with three puppies and a cast of lovable animals, a caring dog family takes him in. Perfect for ages 2 to 7, it's a feel-good story about belonging kids will read again and again.
"This captivating picture book sparks imagination, kindness, and inclusiveness, and the bilingual edition is pure magic for families," says educator and mother of two Hana Tanaka. "Rhyming fun like Dr. Seuss, colorful like a classic Disney cartoon — and an irresistible bedtime story."
Preschool teacher Kamie Katzarska says her class loved it: "Every day a little girl comes to my room and sits 'forever' turning the pages. The book is a hit!"
"Longfellow Finds A Home" launched the Wiener Dog Tales series in English, followed by a Spanish edition; this Japanese–English bilingual edition marks an exciting new chapter, carrying Longfellow's message of friendship and belonging to readers around the world.
