Phatso Brown Presents Amerikan XX: A Surreal Amerikan Dream Fueled By Rock, Electro, Hip Hop

With Amerikan XX, Pakistani American artist and singer Phatso Brown documents the contradictions of the American experience through a sound that feels both nostalgic and completely unknown — like 90s alternative pop transmitted through a broken machine from a parallel universe. Shades of Prince, Timbaland, Baxter Dury, and even Beck dance around themes of lust, betrayal, materialism, narcissism, alienation, and power.

Blending alternative, electronic, and hip hop influences, Amerikan XX explores the highs, lows, triumphs, failures, and beautifully chaotic moments of life inside the American dream. It is a story of discovery and disillusionment — the promise, the pressure, the freedom, and the madness.

"I wanted to tell the truth of my American experience — the good, the bad, and especially the effed up," says Brown, real name Raza Ray. "Because that's where the real stories are."
