Naperville: Structure Fire in the 200 Block of Cedarbrook Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - On Wednesday morning, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 911 call reporting a possible fire at a residence on Cedarbrook Road. The call came in at 07:33 a.m., prompting the ECC to immediately dispatch a general alarm response.

The response consisted of three engines, two trucks, two medic units, one heavy rescue, and three battalion vehicles. Upon arrival, the initial responding companies completed a thorough survey of the structure and established command. Smoke was visible from the front of the home and it was determined that the fire was confined to the basement.

Thankfully, all occupants of the residence were safely out of the structure. Fire suppression companies quickly extinguished the fire and conducted ventilation operations. They also searched for any signs of fire extension and remaining life-safety concerns.

Once the fire was fully extinguished, crews continued to work on overhauling the affected area to ensure that any potential hazards were contained. The Naperville Fire Department received assistance from the Naperville Police Department on scene.

According to initial investigations, the cause of the fire was deemed accidental. However, damage to both the residence and its contents was estimated at $70,000. As a result of this incident, it was determined by Naperville's Transportation, Engineering and Development Group that the occupancy is currently uninhabitable.

One Naperville Police Officer who responded to the scene was transported for smoke inhalation but has since been released. The quick response and efficient actions taken by both emergency services helped prevent further damage and ensure everyone's safety during this incident.
