Mitchell Sipus Releases New Dance Single "Can U"
Rezul News/10724047
PITTSBURGH - Rezul -- Electronic music producer Mitch Sipus releases his new single, "Can U," a deep melodic house track built from a rich sonic composition of resonant 808 bass lines, vintage Bollywood vocal and instrumental clips, and modern synthesizers shaped by contemporary production techniques.
Driven by hypnotic, forward-moving rhythms, "Can U" is immersive and physical — designed to be felt in the chest as much as heard in the room. The track balances driving dance-floor energy with emotional depth, evoking late-night movement in distant cities where sound, memory, and presence blur together. It is music to get lost in — and to return through.
At its core, "Can U" is a meditation on modern relationships under the banal pressures of contemporary urban life: bills, exes, expectations, schedules, and the constant negotiation of earning a living. Against this backdrop, the track explores the deeper question of whether two people can choose something more — to grow a shared life, to live their dreams together, and to move beyond endurance into creation.

Sipus's musical voice is shaped by an unusually global and interdisciplinary background. Raised in Kentucky bluegrass culture, he first studied guitar in Cincinnati, Ohio, under Spencer Funk of Wild Carrots, a U.S. Cultural Ambassador, from 1998 to 2000. He later studied sitar in Varanasi, India in 2004, deepening his relationship to modal music and cyclical rhythm. From 2008 to 2010, Sipus produced hip-hop with sub-Saharan African refugees in Cairo, Egypt, supporting inter-gang violence reduction initiatives backed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
He began releasing music independently in 2024 under the name Mitchell on Fire, and today writes and performs electronic works as Mitch Sipus, blending global musical traditions with modern electronic forms.
Beyond music, Sipus is an established innovator and technologist. He is a former White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, and is the CTO and Co-Founder of North Star Labs, where he pioneers next-generation cybersecurity technologies in collaboration with MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Years spent working at the intersection of technology, conflict, and complex systems inform the emotional and philosophical undercurrent of his music.

"After years of operating inside abstraction and pressure, sound becomes a way back into the body," says Sipus. "This track is about realizing you don't want to just survive modern life — you want to create it. And sometimes that realization only arrives through another person."
"Can U" is available now on all major streaming platforms. It was recorded in Pittsburgh, PA by MatchBox productions.
