~ Mesa Community College (MCC) has recently welcomed its fifth and largest group of students to participate in the Mesa College Promise program. This program offers two years of fully funded tuition and fees to eligible students, including those who are 24 years or older and residents of Mesa.

The Mesa College Promise program was launched in 2021 as a public-private partnership between the City of Mesa, MCC, and industry partners. Its main goal is to remove financial barriers for both recent high school graduates and adult learners, allowing them to upskill, reskill, and advance their careers without worrying about tuition costs.

This year's group of 358 new students includes 297 recent high school graduates or equivalent and 61 adult learners. The program has awarded a record-breaking $322,990 to a total of 502 new and continuing students for the academic year 2025-2026.

Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman expressed his excitement about the significant increase in new students joining the program this year. He stated that partnerships between MCC, the City of Mesa, and local businesses provide students with the necessary tools to succeed while also building a stronger workforce for the city's future.

The Mesa College Promise program received an additional boost with two new electronic billboards along the U.S. 60 freeway near MCC's Southern and Dobson campus. These billboards are expected to raise $400,000 annually for the program.

Dr. Richard Daniel, President of MCC, highlighted the value and commitment to partnership that this program represents. He stated that by removing financial barriers, they are helping more students achieve their dreams while also having a generational impact on families and inspiring others.

One success story from last year's group is Dani Watchman, an adult learner who is now attending Arizona State University to pursue a bachelor's degree in public policy and public law. Watchman expressed her gratitude towards the Mesa College Promise program for providing her with financial support and allowing her to focus on her studies without worrying about tuition costs.
