Mesa Celebrates $10 Million Mekong Plaza Expansion and 12 New Businesses in the Asian District

~ Mesa, AZ - The Asian District of Mesa has seen a significant boost with the expansion of Mekong Plaza, a popular destination for authentic Asian cuisine, groceries, and retail. The $10 million capital investment has added 32,000 square feet of new space and created approximately 200 jobs.
Mayor Mark Freeman expressed his pride in the growth and success of Mekong Plaza in the Asian District. "This expansion is a testament to the hard work, entrepreneurship, and strong community partnerships that make Mesa a great place to live, work, and raise a family," he said.
The expansion of Mekong Plaza has brought in 12 new businesses, including Haidilao Hot Pot and Udon Shin. Haidilao Hot Pot is one of the world's most recognized traditional Chinese hot pot dining brands while Udon Shin is making its U.S. debut in Mesa. These additions have further solidified Mekong Plaza's reputation as a premier culinary and cultural destination not just in Greater Phoenix but also beyond.
District 3 Councilmember Francisco Heredia also shared his excitement about the growth of the Asian District. "The Asian District continues to thrive as a cultural and economic destination in Mesa, and the Mekong Plaza expansion reinforces that momentum," he said. "This project not only strengthens our local economy but also provides new opportunities for small businesses while celebrating the vibrant diversity that defines our community."

Mekong Plaza currently spans over 100,000 square feet and serves as a cultural anchor in Mesa's Asian District along Dobson Road and Main Street.
