Mayor Kriseman, Police, Lawmakers Endorse Trevor Mallory for City Council

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Rezul -- Former St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman announced today he is endorsing Trevor Mallory for St. Petersburg City Council.

"Trevor is already working on the biggest problems facing St. Pete, like affordability," said Kriseman. "With a seat on the city council, he's going to be able to achieve so much more for our neighborhoods."

Former Mayor Kriseman is joined by Representative-elect Kyandra Darling, who just won the race to succeed Rep. Michele Rayner in a district that overlaps with City Council District 6.

"Trevor knows what is at stake," said Darling, "and I trust him to fight for policies that provide real relief, lowering the cost of living, and expanding opportunities for homeownership. I am proud to endorse Trevor Mallory for Tampa City Council District 6!"

Darling is joined by Representative Daryl Campbell, who knows the candidate from Mallory's time as the President of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida.

"I've had the opportunity to know Trevor and see the way he approaches his work and his community, and I know he doesn't take the responsibility of leadership lightly," said Campbell. "As the former President of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, Trevor has already had the opportunity to serve in a statewide leadership role. I'm proud to support Trevor Mallory for City Council and look forward to seeing him bring his spirit of service and accountability to City Hall."

Also endorsing today is the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association, the union representing St. Petersburg Police Department officers.

Mallory has emphasized affordability, especially in housing costs, during his campaign. A home-grown athlete who was drafted to play professional baseball right out of Lakewood High, Mallory has made his career putting St. Pete families in homes they can afford. He now runs Neighborhood Home Solutions, helping working families get financial support to buy their first home.

Today's endorsements add to the support Mallory has earned from more than a dozen other community leaders. Mallory's endorsements include his former opponents, Jameka Williams and Doug Homeyer, St. Petersburg Councilwoman Gina Driscoll, former Councilman Frank Peterman, former Councilman Karl Nurse, and former Councilman Jim Kennedy. He also has support from County Commissioner Rene Flowers, former Rep Ben Diamond, Pastor Manuel Sykes, Pastor G. Gregg Murray, Democratic Black Caucus President Armando Grundy-Gomes, and Gulfport Councilmembers Marlene Shaw, Jennifer Daunch, and Nancy Earley. The Tampa Bay Times writes "Mallory stands out as the clear choice" in District 6.

Current Councilwoman Driscoll has served the residents of District 6 since she was first elected in 2017, and is now term limited. The election on November 3, 2026 is open to all St. Petersburg voters.
