Rezul News/10729218
~ The streets of Boston will come alive with a series of events and celebrations in the coming weeks, encouraging people to explore the city through alternative modes of transportation. The Boston Transportation Department, at the request of the Mayor's Office of Tourism, Sports & Entertainment, has announced temporary parking restrictions for a reenactment of part of the Knox Trail on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
This event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of when Henry Knox transported 59 cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in 1776. The reenactment will take place in the form of a rolling rally parade, starting at 2 p.m. from Fenway High School's parking lot and ending at UU Urban Ministry on Putnam Street. The parade route will take participants through Alleghany Street, Terrace Street, Cedar Street, Centre Street and Roxbury Street.
To ensure smooth traffic flow during this event, parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Saturday on Alleghany Street and Roxbury Street. The south side of Roxbury Street from Highland Street to Malcolm X Boulevard will be closed for the duration of the event.

In another part of town, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that the Canterbury Street Bridge in Roslindale will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Friday, September 12 until further notice. This closure comes after findings from a recent bridge inspection deemed it necessary for safety reasons. Pedestrian access will still be available but drivers are advised to follow detour signage in place.
The primary detour route for eastbound traffic will utilize Hyde Park Avenue, Cummins Highway, Rowe Street, Brown Avenue and Seymour Street. Westbound traffic should follow Hyde Park Avenue to Cummins Highway to Rowe Street to Seymour Street.
Drivers traveling through these areas should expect delays and are advised to reduce speed and use caution.
In South Boston, preparations are underway for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade and road race on Sunday, March 15, 2026. This year, the parade will take a different route, using East Sixth Street instead of East Fifth Street and traveling in the reverse direction. The parade will start at Dorchester Street and end at West Broadway, passing through various streets including Telegraph Street, Thomas Park, G Street and East Fourth Street.
