LongMile Launches Carrier-Vetting Platform to Help Brokers Document Due Diligence After Montgomery Decision
Rezul News/10739632
Platform helps freight brokers, auto transport brokers, and transportation intermediaries verify carrier records and preserve timestamped evidence of pre-dispatch checks
ST. LOUIS - Rezul -- LongMile announced the launch of its carrier-vetting and due-diligence documentation platform for freight brokers, auto transport brokers, and transportation intermediaries.
The platform arrives as brokers reexamine carrier-selection practices after the U.S. Supreme Court's May 14, 2026 decision in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, LLC. In that case, the Court held that a state-law negligent-hiring claim against a freight broker was not preempted by the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act because it fell within the statute's safety exception. The decision does not create a new federal vetting checklist, but it puts more emphasis on evidence that a broker acted reasonably before dispatch.
LongMile helps brokers review core carrier records, including operating authority, insurance, safety rating, out-of-service history, crash history, FMCSA and SAFER data, reputation signals, insurance and bond records where applicable, and related risk indicators. Each check automatically creates a timestamped due-diligence report showing what was checked, when it was checked, and what was found.

By replacing scattered checks with a repeatable workflow, LongMile helps brokerages make faster carrier-selection decisions and maintain consistent documentation across teams. The platform also supports checks for related identities and chameleon-carrier indicators that may not be obvious from a single public lookup.
LongMile is available at longmile.io.

| "Most brokers already look carriers up before dispatch," said Sam Nazirov, founder of LongMile. "The problem is that the work often lives in scattered browser tabs, screenshots, notes, or someone's memory. LongMile turns that process into a clear record brokers can save, share, and revisit." |
