Long Beach Seeks Volunteers for 42nd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, Sept. 19
Rezul News/10743527
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is gearing up for the 42nd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, inviting neighbors, families and friends to join in on the effort to keep local beaches and marinas clean and healthy. This year's cleanup will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 from 9 a.m. to noon at 10 locations across Long Beach.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the event, stating "We invite our Long Beach community to join this year's California Coastal Cleanup Day and help care for the shoreline we all cherish." He also highlighted the significance of this year's cleanup as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the California Coastal Act.
The California Coastal Commission is leading this year's cleanup in commemoration of the landmark legislation that established the commission to regulate land and water use along the state's 1,100-mile shoreline. The act aims to maximize public access, protect marine habitats and regulate land development within the legally defined Coastal Zone.
Long Beach has been a main location for California Coastal Cleanup Day for many years. This year, in collaboration with local partners, Long Beach PRM is expanding the event by adding five new cleanup locations along both coastline and interior beaches. This doubles the number of cleanups offered compared to last year.
