WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rezul -- (West Palm Beach, FL – December 23, 2025) The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC) is inviting interested members and supporters to the first two information-packed Hot Topic Luncheons in 2026.
Wednesday, January 21 / 11 am to 1 pm
Beyond the Headlines: Property Taxes Explained
What is all the talk about cutting property taxes in Florida? What will it mean for local governments that rely on that money and where will their funding come from? What will the impact be on residents and visitors? These critical questions and more will be answered at this Hot Topics Luncheon.

Defending Democracy in the Courts
Barbara Pariente, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida, will give a presentation about the current issues in Florida and Federal courts, with a focus on cases that involve voting rights and principles of democracy. She spent 21 years as a Supreme Court Justice where she worked to improve methods for handling cases involving families and children in the courts and is a founding member of the Palm Beach County Association for Women Lawyers.
