LCC Asia Pacific Research Finds Asset Scarcity Reshaping US Mid-Market Private Equity in Industrial
Rezul News/10742417
New research identifies electrical, energy technical and mining services as key areas of opportunity as private equity capital concentrates on larger, higher-quality US industrial assets
NEW YORK - Rezul -- CC Asia Pacific has released new research examining private equity investment across the US industrial mid-market, focused on engineering, electrical services, energy technical services, mining services and industrial products at enterprise values of US$200 million to US$500 million. The research finds that while overall US private equity deal volume declined materially in the first half of 2026, demand for scaled and defensible industrial-service businesses remains strong, with the availability of quality assets—not capital—emerging as a key constraint.
The report, Buying Scale in the American Industrial Base, points to substantial underlying demand from approximately US$1.4 trillion of planned US utility capital programmes between 2025 and 2030, rapidly expanding data-centre construction, new LNG and pipeline infrastructure and increased policy support for domestic mining and critical minerals. These investment programmes continue to support demand across electrical, engineering, energy and resource-service markets.

LCC Asia Pacific argues that some of the more compelling opportunities may increasingly be found in capability-adjacent businesses rather than the most heavily contested headline sectors. Electrical testing and commissioning, transmission and distribution engineering, controls and instrumentation, pipeline integrity and specialist mine-site services can access many of the same structural demand drivers while potentially facing less acquisition competition.
"The demand thesis around the US industrial base remains compelling, but at the US$200 million to US$500 million level the challenge is increasingly finding a quality business of the right scale before strategic buyers or competing financial sponsors do," said Nicholas Assef, Founder and Managing Director of LCC Asia Pacific. "This is placing greater importance on carve-outs, sponsor-to-sponsor transactions and identifying specialist capabilities that can be built into larger platforms." The research identifies these channels, together with build-to-scale strategies, as increasingly important sources of investment opportunities.

The research also concludes that elevated pricing means returns increasingly need to be generated through operational improvement, stronger cash conversion, specialist capability development and disciplined add-on execution, rather than relying principally on multiple expansion. LCC Asia Pacific works with corporate and private equity clients across acquisitions, divestments, partnerships and capital strategy, combining industrial-sector knowledge, market intelligence and transaction expertise across Sydney, Singapore and New York. The executive summary is available at lccib.com.
