Kuester Management Group Reflects on Tips to Improve HOA Meeting Efficiency
Rezul News/10551425
Kuester Management Group shares strategies for keeping HOA meetings on track and using time more effectively.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rezul -- Board meetings are a required part of running a homeowners association. This is where important topics are discussed, and decisions are made. But it can be easy for meetings to get off track and go on for longer than intended. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding ways the HOA board can keep meetings running smoothly and productively.
"Before an official meeting can be held, quorum must be reached," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "Give members plenty of notice for upcoming meetings so they can plan accordingly. Highlight topics that will be discussed to increase interest and give homeowners a chance to share their opinions and insight."
Distributing the meeting agenda in advance can also be beneficial, says Kuester. It allows members to be more prepared and stick to the issues at hand. Make it clear that if a topic is not on the agenda, no decisions can be made. Let members know what the deadline is for having something added.

The board should also follow clear processes and procedures during the meeting and set expectations. Follow a consistent routine and enforce rules to maintain order. During open comments, respect time limits for speaking so everyone has a turn and no one person is dominating the meeting.
"Whether the HOA uses Robert's Rules of Order or has their own system, it is important to have structure during meetings and work as efficiently and effectively as possible," says Kuester. "Homeowners are more likely to attend and get involved if they know that their time and thoughts are valued and respected."
