~ Kansas City Water Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Cleveland Park Area

KC Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory to customers in the area of 39th street and Myrtle Avenue, near Cleveland Park. This advisory comes as a result of a loss of positive pressure on a water main during repairs. The estimated time for repairs to be completed is 6-8 hours.

As a precautionary measure, KC Water recommends that customers in the affected area follow certain guidelines. These include boiling all drinking water for three minutes before use, using boiled water for brushing teeth, and avoiding the use of un-boiled tap water for making ice or preparing food. Dishes and food contact surfaces can be disinfected using tap water with one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.

While the tap water is safe for other purposes such as bathing, small children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water. KC Water will be sampling and testing the tap water in this area to ensure its quality and safety. Customers will receive notification from KC Water when the boil water advisory can be lifted, which typically takes 24 hours after testing.
