Juneau: CBJ Facilities Closed January 10-11
Rezul News/10724735
~ Juneau, Alaska - Due to hazardous road and weather conditions, the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has announced the closure of all its facilities on Saturday, January 10 and Sunday, January 11. This decision was made in order to ensure the safety of residents and allow for snow removal and street maintenance teams to work efficiently.
The CBJ is urging all residents to stay off the roads during this time and limit travel in known avalanche exposure areas. This will not only protect their own safety but also allow for the smooth operation of snow removal and street maintenance efforts.
The closure will impact all CBJ facilities and offices, including the Juneau Public Libraries locations, Juneau Douglas City Museum, and all Juneau Parks & Recreation facilities. However, Shéiyi X̱aat Hit Youth Shelter will remain open.

In addition, the Juneau Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste will be closed through the weekend. Capital Transit will continue to operate on winter routes but will not be able to make stops on Glacier Highway between the Federal Building and Bartlett Hospital. Residents can visit juneaucapitaltransit.org for more information.
The CBJ is also actively monitoring and clearing roofs at its facilities while increasing staffing and resources to support these efforts. The agency is working closely with partners from the National Weather Service and Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities to assess any potential impacts from an incoming atmospheric river.
Residents are advised to stay updated on current avalanche hazard levels by visiting bit.ly/CBJavalanche. For media inquiries, please contact [insert media contact information]. The CBJ remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents during this challenging weather situation.
